Bloc
Bloc is an online coding and programming boot camp that uses one-on-one mentorship to prepare students for careers in the professional software and design fields. Bloc is tailored to suit each student's specific and unique learning needs. Students can either enroll full time or complete their program with a part time structure. There's also an experienced developer available in real-time for eighty hours a week to answer student questions. Bloc has a project based curriculum, developed by experts in the field. Every curriculum is vetted by the advisory board, which is made up of hiring managers. In this way, it's ensured that the Bloc curriculum can teach students what they need to know for the workforce, and use comprehensive proven methods and tools to do it. The Web Developer Boot Camp has a curriculum that focuses mostly around JavaScript. Students have a choice between learning server-side JavaScript with Node, or learning Ruby on Rails. Each student works with their mentor in order to build a portfolio of websites that they can use to further their budding career as a software engineer. The Designer Boot Camp is just as flexible as the Web Developer Boot Camp. Designers will build a professional portfolio containing between three and six fully realized projects for potential employers to view. Students will learn about the different methods of designing in today's modern world. Bloc isn't just focused on learning programming material, though. Career readiness is the end goal of the programs. Because of this, the Track programs include career prep workshops and job preparation material. Mentors will practice job interview questions with their students. When they've completed their courses, students work with Bloc's Career Support team to prepare a plan for their job search and gain exposure to the Employer Network. There's no prior development experience necessary to enroll in a Bloc course. Bloc has a 100% acceptance rate. 73% of Bloc graduates report that they've been hired in their preferred field within 120 days of their graduation. The average income is $65,411. Bloc has several scholarships available for its students. The Close The Gap scholarship is for women. The Veterans scholarship is for US veterans, and the Diversity scholarship is for students from diverse ethnic backgrounds.
