Sandboxie

One of the top ways our computers get infected with malware is through a browser injection that can change files on your PC. Sandboxie is designed to prevent that from happening by isolating programs like browsers and email clients to prevent malicious code from executing on your PC. It's available for $20.95 per year if you prefer the subscription model, but a lifetime license is available for $34.95. Sandboxie has been around since the days of Windows XP, but it supports modern versions of Windows, too. In fact, the developers recently debuted the Windows 10 version of the software. While Sandboxie works excellent at isolating programs like browsers and email clients, it doesn't do so well with other programs that require feedback from the internet. For example, there's a big list of known conflicts available on the Sandboxie website and most of the programs on that list require a nearly constant internet connection. Sandboxie is known to have conflicts with services like Steam, GOG, Pidgin, PunkBuster, and several anti-virus programs. Some Windows 10 programs like the Edge browser are reported to have problems with Sandboxie too, but Chrome, Firefox, and Opera seem to work fine with Sandboxie. Overall, Sandboxie is an excellent tool for isolating specific programs you don't want to have access to your computer while you browse the internet, but there's enough software on the known conflict list that you should give it a browse before you consider purchasing Sandboxie.

Since April this year you're unable to get a new license of Sandboxie. According to support: They are working on it. As a developer: You cannot tell me, that you are unable to fix a simple license endpoint over a duration of more than 2 months...

Since the move to Sophos the support for this product has taken a huge dive. It takes *forever* for them to fix issues. One day your browser just stops working in the sandbox and you get little to no support at all on the matter. They're *really* slow to fix issues regarding windows/chrome updates. I would NOT recommend this product for surfing. It should point out that it also has difficulties running Unity based applications/games inside the sandbox, they just won't work most of the time.
