Jaspersoft
Jaspersoft is software used for building dashboards. Jaspersoft uses JavaScript code via Visualize.js, and some examples of its applications include a dashboard for teachers to see when they log in to a school portal. It might have graphs and elements that show student attendance, a calendar, a message box and other features. The software is owned by TIBCO, a publicly traded company that was founded in 1997 by Vivek Ranadivé and is headquartered in California. TIBCO was acquired by Vista Equity Partners in 2014, and the current CEO is Murray Rode. TIBCO specializes in visual analytics software, and their other offerings include BusinessWorks, Project Flogo, Cloud Messaging, FTL, ActiveSpaces, Spotfire and more. One of Jaspersoft's customers, a teacher's dashboard known as Waggle, was recognized in Gartner's "Best Use of Data in a Product or Service" category. The software has since been discontinued, but its features were integrated into various offerings from Triumph Learning.

The trusty dashboard has become sort of a trope in the technological world. One can turn on the television and hardly watch for a few minutes without seeing a commercial where some obviously fake, translucent "dashboard of the future" is being manipulated by garish hand gestures. In the real world, most dashboards exist on standard computer screens and mobile devices, although some newer cars have dashboards built into their dashboards, bringing the whole thing full circle in a way. The dashboard on trial here is the one used to analyze data and provide a landing page for online services. Anyone who's clicked on their own Facebook profile has seen a dashboard full of controls and data in a convenient package. Jaspersoft is a framework that lets such fancy dashboards exist. It's a JavaScript framework, so most web developers will find it easy to use, making it possible to create fantastic user landing pages in a short amount of time. It's free to try for two months, and somewhat reasonable pricing plans (around a dollar per hour) are available after that. The software is currently on its sixth major release and is actively developed.
