AWS Direct Connect

AWS Direct Connect is a software created by Amazon. It's designed to let you create a dedicated network connection between your current location and AWS (Amazon Web Services). With AWS Direct Connect, you can create a private connection between AWS and your current data center. This private connection can be used to increase your bandwidth throughput, lower your network costs, and give an overall higher rate of consistency in your network experience than an Internet-based connection would. AWS Direct Connect establishes connectivity between the network that you're currently optimizing and one of the several AWS Direct Connect locations. It does this by using 802.1q VLANs, an industry standard connection that can be broken down into several virtual interfaces. By doing this, you can use the same connection to view both public and private Amazon-based resources. You'll also maintain network separation between private and public spaces. You can reconfigure any of the virtual interfaces at any time to suit your unique needs. There are two ways that AWS Direct Connect is able to reduce your overall network costs. First of all, you're facilitating the transfer of data directly to and from AWS. This means that you'll lower your bandwidth commitment to your current Internet service provider. Secondly, all of the data you transfer over the dedicated connection will be charged at a different rate. The AWS Direct Connect's transfer rate is lower than the general Internet transfer rates. You'll also be guaranteed a better rate of consistency in your network performance. When using the internet, your network latency can vary wildly because the way data moves is constantly changing. When you use AWS Direct Connect, you prioritize the data using the dedicated connection and choose how to route that data, which provides more consistency than an internet-based connection would. AWS Direct Connect is also compatible with all AWS services. It's a network service that works with all the AWS services that you can usually access by internet, including Elastic Compute Cloud and Amazon Simple Storage Service. Access to the cloud means that you can use your connectivity for far more than just online shopping. You can also use AWS Direct Connect for the establishment of a private interface. If you're using several virtual interfaces at once, you can create several private interfaces at once. You can use these private interfaces to connect to your Amazon VPC. AWS Direct Connect is also a flexible service that you can easily scale to suit your unique needs. You can choose between a 1 Gbps and a 10 Gbps connection. In addition, if you use AWS Direct Connect to connect to your VPC, you won't need to use the VPN hardware that would be necessary with an internet connection. It's easy to sign up for the AWS Direct Connect service by using the AWS Management Console. With the console, you'll have a single view that allows you to manage all of your current virtual interfaces and connections. It's also possible to download custom router templates.
