Pandora FMS
Pandora FMS is a monitoring software for IT infrastructure management. It includes network equipment, Windows and Unix servers, virtual infrastructure and all different kinds of applications. Pandora FMS has a large amount of features, making it a new generation software which covers all the monitoring issues that your organization may have.
Guess what surprise I found inside Pandora's box. We had to try lots of them, but fnally we got the best outcome with Pandora FMS. It solved lots of weak spots we didn't know how to deal with. Both getting inventories in real time or a 10-yera-long history as well as usr experience, which is in my opinion the best feature of this software. And from that point on, we've kept using Pandora. But we also get its newest versions, so things keep getting better. Over all monitoring sofwares, I think Pandora is the one that covers both simplicity and efficiency the two main components of a monitoring system. Supervising network events is hard wrok, but it's also important in IT and tools like this one play an important role. If I could suggest something however based on my needs it'd be to come up with new ideas in a new feature that is closer to the device advanced security monitoring.
If I had to keep something of Pandora it would be that it has a specific preconfigured solution to monitor any of the SAP environments. It also has a series of default monitors that save time when making a system checklist, since they can send alerts with information of each of the events. For the rest, it would be better to have a more specific filter for the data collection work where the desired information can be seen in an agile way.
We are using Pandora FMS to monitor most of our company's devices and we have found that it is very easy to use and intuitive. Pandora is able to monitor, equally, devices, networks, servers, applications, services and business processes in a flexible way and adaptable to your environment. Knowing your tools does not take much time, so it is very easy to start monitoring systems. Most of the problems we had can be solved with the help of your agents or your wiki. Thanks to them I have also been able to discover the Ehorus software and see that together and integrated they work very well. Ehorus is a remote computer management system based on the cloud, is one of the best alternatives to Teamviewer for its simplicity. To start using it you just have to install and run a software on your computer. That's right, you can connect to your home computer from the office, and access the desktop and all your files.
I used to use Nagios before, but Pandora is awesome, taking seconds to start monitoring using docker images for instance. Like Discovery, each new feature released makes this product easier to use. From network to applications, from hardware to user experience, there're endless possibilities with Pandora.
I've been using Pandora FMS for some months now, it's amazing how deep in data the tool can reach with how simple it is, only through typical commands like ping or well organized nmaps it has the capacity to monitor gigantic networks, without really needing an extremely powerful machine. With all this data provides graphs of various types, reports, alerts ... everything fully customizable to almost ridiculous points, and this is just the server, if you learn to use the software agents you can find out even who sneezes near your machines! But not everything is nice stuff, some features seem to be very green, and when you review documentation to take advantage of some aspects of your pandora you find very outdated information (I have to say that lately I have noticed many changes in the wiki, so they may be improving this aspect). In conclusion, without a doubt PandoraFMS promises, it is a simple monitoring tool, but with an enormous depth, and an enormous amount of functionalities. I trust that they will continue to evolve and improve even more PandoraFMS.
