Delicious Reviews

The Internet is a trove of information. Since the earliest days of web browsing, bookmarking websites of interest has been a must for the frequent web surfer. Delicious was one of the first web applications to simplify the process of bookmarking and sharing web content. It made its debut in 2003, becoming the first application to introduce "tagging" and other innovative features. Yahoo acquired the company in 2005. The platform went through a major overhaul in 2011, and it was redesigned to take advantage of the popularity of mobile devices. The Delicious app included several features that were prominent in the browser-based version of the platform, including the ability to save pages by name and URL, a comment feature, and the power to create tags. When used properly, an individual could create their own repository of useful Internet information. Once a reliable source was found, all that was required was a simple click to add it to one's bookmarks. One reason the Delicious platform became so popular was its integration with social media sites like Twitter and Facebook. Web browsers didn't allow individuals to share their bookmarks with social media friends. Delicious not only made this possible, it encouraged it. There was also a search feature which could be helpful. Individuals could browse their personal library of links with ease. What made this possible, of course, was the inclusion of tags. Delicious was the first app to use that term when it launched. Sadly, other services and apps have made Delicious somewhat obsolete. It has been removed from the App Store as a download, and the app is now read-only. The good news is that all the bookmarks one has saved over the years are still there. The developers of Delicious have replaced it with an app called Pinboard.
