WhatsApp is a mobile messaging app that allows you to send and receive messages without racking up a huge bill. The app is completely free to all users no matter how many messages you send, and now features end-to-end encryption of all messages to provide an additional level of security. WhatsApp does not take up much space on your phone and is easy to install. Because you do not need to register for an account, the set-up process is quick and easy once the system confirms your phone number. Once your phone number is confirmed, the app can identify your contacts that are also part of WhatsApp so you can start communicating right away. Besides sending messages and multimedia files, you can also use the voice calling feature. WhatsApp has some additional features, including a group messaging tool that allows everyone in the group to receive the same messages. You can also use emoji icons, and send and receive location or map details. The one downside to the WhatsApp system is you cannot send messages to people who do not use the app. If a lot of your contacts are not using the service, you can try to get them to sign up for free so you can start messaging.

Whatsapp has been a really cool application and highly used and reliable. Given it is free, I could not find a better alternative especially with such large user base. I have started to connect to the different groups which are great but there were a couple of instances where some hackers took over the group and became admins and kicked everyone out and put shameful remarks. This shows me that security sometimes for the public groups were questionable and there was no place to "complain and report" thus, it is 4 stars.
