Its "be nice, be respectful" policy is good in theory. However, since it isn't policed by humans, it's vulnerable to malicious trolls. Despite their best efforts, the site has trolls and bullies galore. They are more subtle than the ones of facebook and other social media sites, but that makes them more irritating. If somebody takes against your point of view, however sincerely expressed, they can stalk you unmercifully, flagging you for the most anodyne of answers. EG I responded to a question on whether Harley-Davidsons were more reliable than Japanese motor cycles. Now, even H-D owners don't claim that, but my "stalker", who had been upset by a comment I'd made on a political issue, chose to flag every comment I'd ever made about motor-cycles. This became tedious, so I de-activated my acccount. Some things are not worth the hassle.
I used to love quora until their BNBR policy was being used by liberal, leftist trolls who shut other people down in the name of freedom of speech. Oh, the irony! Oh, yes. That is how it is. Now, I will build a quora alternative and send out invites all the RWs I know. Good luck, keeping your RW crowd happy quora, once they find my much better alternative where free speech is truly free.
For years I only posted answers on Quora questions that were technical in nature and related to my career. Then, with all of the recent political action in the US I began answering and commenting on US political question and answers. And that's when the leftist tactic of reporting my answers and comments that they simply disagreed with - and while Quora occationally agrees with my appeals, they mostly agree with the leftists, even if I'm not really in violation - unless expressing conservative views is a violation of their sensitivities, which by the left's own words is exactly what is happening. The left, which includes most at Quora (based in San Francisco) seem to support leftist answers and posts and don't hide their bias in trying to silence conservative views when they can label them as not "being nice and respectful". What do you expect from a group of people who re-define existing words and double-down when pointed out for their blatant, unhidden desire to wage ideological war on the right - it's war they believe, and all actions are therefore justified, even suppressing speech they don't agree with. Stay out of controversial areas of Quora and you'll be fine. If it's anything relating to US politics you'll always be fighting an uphill battle on Quora if you are a conservative.
