There aren't too many MMO games that are set in space. Star Conflict is one of the best of them. Targem Games of Russia developed and introduced the game in 2012, and since that time it has gained a devoted following. The action is fast-paced with incredible spaceship battles. Players in the game control spaceships that are built for combat. Fans of Star Wars will be especially impressed with the realistic simulation of guiding a combat ship through the vast confines of deep space. Players can achieve special abilities and develop special skills to aid them in their quest for dominance. The game has multiple modes which afford hours of play. Player versus player mode is one that many prefer. In this mode players are separated into teams. This is reminiscent of many MMO games. The teams must them complete objectives and combat missions. As a player becomes more skilled, their ship is upgraded. This unlocks more maps and more battle scenarios. Open Space mode is essentially a sandbox that allows players to move between different sectors and compete in battles. There is a storyline attached to this mode of play. It involves NPC characters known as Biomorphs. These characters are trying to take over space, and players must stop them by completing various missions. The missions mode of the game is great for single players who want to compete against NPC characters and game bosses. Missions typically involve teams of four players and are limited to twelve players in total. This reduces the chaos that can often arise in MMO games. Players can choose from four different spaceships. There are interceptors, fighters, frigates, and destroyers. The ships are the driving force behind the game, and each class of ship can be upgraded. The negative is that the upgrades can become quite expensive. The main drawbacks to this game are the pay-to-win elements. It can also take a long time grinding through tedious levels to achieve the best ship upgrades. Nevertheless, Star Conflict is a game that will probably become one of your favorites.
