Heroes of Newerth
Heroes of Newerth is a beautiful MMORPG in which you build a team of heroes to defeat your enemies. The game is essentially a tower defense game that has been merged with a massively multiplayer online experience. Not only will you have to attack enemy bases and control the game map, but you'll have to defend against evil enemies as they attempt to fight back. Each hero in your team can have unique skills and abilities, and you can use those skills in real time to get the job done.
- Select a Team of Heroes
- Attack Enemy Bases
- Superb Graphics
- Over 100 Characters
- Requires Good Internet Connection
The basic goal of the Heroes of Newerth game is quite simple. You'll be placed on a map in two teams that represent your particular faction. The factions are the Hellbourne and the Legion, and you may notice that the themes, characters, and even animations seem similar to World of Warcraft, another MMORPG from which this game heavily draws. The two teams will begin the match on opposite sides of the map in their own bases. Inside the base, you'll find various tower defenses, random buildings, spawn points, and a key building that acts as the focus point of the game. By destroying the other team's key building, your team wins. The Legion key building is called the World Tree, and the Hellbourne key building is called the Sacrificial Shrine. You can also win the game if the other team concedes defeat before their key building is actually destroyed. There are several different game modes to keep players engaged. The standard mode is co-op, which allows players to play against each other or teams of bots. Next is the player-hosted mode, which allows you to create personalized game variants for a select group of invited guests. There are also Normal and Casual modes that are quite similar, but they offer varying levels of experience and gold reward. There are nearly 140 characters that you can play in this game, which is a tremendous selection. Before every game begins, you'll be asked to select one of the heroes. This will be your character for the entire match, but you can select a new character in between matches. Heroes typically have four skills, but you'll have to unlock some of them and upgrade their power to experience their full potential. When your character's level increases, you can also increase the level of an ability. You gain experience any time an enemy unit is killed while you are in range of it. Heroes can be raised up to level 25, but it requires more and more experience with each subsequent level. The game gives you gold periodically and for killing enemies, and that gold can be used to boost character powers or buy new items. There are three main attribute categories for the different heroes, and those are Strength, Intelligence, and Agility. Heroes in the Agility category are focused on DPS and basic attacks. Heroes in the Intelligence category could be compared to mages or other magic-based characters. Heroes in the Strength category are essentially tanks.
