ArchiCAD

ArchiCAD

ArchiCAD is a computer aided design software developed for use in the architectural sector. Created by Grahpisoft Australia, archiCAD is a cutting edge design software with integrated features tailored for creating architectural drawings in today's modern construction industry. The newest iterations of archiCAD have been updated to support BIM, or Building Information Modeling, files, which allow architects to effortlessly share their models with other trades to reduce in field conflicts before they occur. BIM has been an increasingly used staple in the construction industry, and archiCAD prides itself on supplying architects with the tools they need to work efficiently and effectively. Along with BIM, archiCAD has updated support for stairs and railing, 3D modeling visualization, and element classifications. These powerful features allow architects to incorporate 3D renderings of their design into shareable models, making coordination easier than ever. ArchiCAD comes with the ability to incorporate several important and widely used extensions, such as Solibri, Artlantis, and WinDor Builder. These extensions allow users to create and share 2D and 3D renderings of their design, as wells incorporate more tools into the vanilla archiCAD software.

ArchiCAD Reviews

ArchiCAD is a breath of fresh air for CAD programs. ArchiCAD is one of a kind, in the sense that it is designed specifically for the architectural field. While most trades and fields have software dedicated to 3D design and BIM, archiCAD delivers a rich set of tools for architects. One of the strongest pros about archiCAD is its BIM support. In the construction field today, BIM is a must. Many of the larger projects being built today require BIM coordination in the preliminary design phase, before ground is even broke. By supporting BIM, archiCAD can potentially save its users thousands by detecting problems and conflicts before its too late. Support for Solibri and Artlantis is also a huge plus for this software, as more and more companies are utilizing 3D rendered models in their work. These 3D models are critical when presenting your work to a potential client, and when communicating design intent to engineers and subcontractors. While archiCAD is a rich and powerful CAD program, it does have a steep learning curve. Users unfamiliar with CAD programs will be quite lost, and the user interface doesn't help. Even veteran CAD users may have a tough time trying to navigate through all of archiCADS features. Luckily, GraphiSoft has free tutorials and webinars on how to use its powerful software, and does offer live support for the people who have purchased it.
